After a protracted legal battle over the ownership of Temple of the Dog’s iconic ’90s recordings, Chris Cornell and A&M records have obtained the master tapes and will reportedly reissue them for a 25th anniversary commemorative collection.

Temple of the Dog was a supergroup that featured Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron, along with Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready, who were recording Pearl Jam’s debut album, Ten, at the same time they were working on the TOTD album. Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder guested on the album as well. Temple of the Dog was formed to pay tribute to the late Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood, who died of a drug overdose in 1990. Cornell was Wood’s roommate, and Gossard and Ament were members of Mother Love Bone.

The master records have long been a subject of dispute: A Seattle studio owner whose late brother produced the recordings claimed ownership of the material, while Cornell and his label fought to regain (or retain, as they saw it) their right to the recordings. Cornell shared a photo of boxes ostensibly containing the material, giving fans something to get excited about—reportedly later this year.
