After hitting the stage at New York City’s Webster Hall on Monday night (June 2) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Superunknown, by performing it in its entirety for the first time ever, Soundgarden took the Tonight Show stage last night to celebrate once again.

The guys did two tracks off their fourth album, kicking things off with “Spoonman,” the song that brought them into the mainstream, despite the fact that it features a guy actually playing spoons.
After 20 years, frontman Chris Cornell sounds a bit more weathered, but it gives the track a little additional grit.
They later took the stage again to perform “My Wave.” The guys even shot a web exclusive video that explains the story behind the making of that particular track, which they say was one of the last songs to make the album.

But the real scoop here is when they talk about how they wrote “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Pretty great story actually.
The band released a deluxe edition of Superunknown this week, which features the remastered album along with a second disc of demos, rehearsals and B-sides. The “super deluxe edition” spans 5 CDs and will contain the remastered album, additional demos, rehearsals and B-sides.
Soundgarden kick off a 23-date co-headlining tour with fellow ’90s rockers Nine Inch Nails on July 19 in Las Vegas.
